Great Long Weekend!

September 2nd, 2006 - LONG WEEKEND!

We had such a nice long weekend. Friday night Travis from my Edmonton office came to town to play in the Canadian Slow Pitch Tournament (which we hope our team will qualify for next year!) and Greg and I went up there at 9:30pm to watch them play. It was cool watching the game under the bright lights of the stadium, gives me an idea of what it's going to be like when we play our tournament in Okotoks in a couple of weeks. These guys are good!

Saturday had a nice dinner with P&D at Fiore's and had my favorite Salmon marinara with baby clams and baby shrimp! P&D gave me a belated b.day present, a small black purse with pink and purple flowers and a Cinderella pen that lights up when you write with it (holy moo, it's like they know me! :) Played in the team game at the Martinique and thank goodness Greg and I had them at the other table ... we were stinkin' up the place! But it was great fun as it always is.

Sunday was a quieter day and although I had plans to bake up a storm, it was Greg that made a fabulous chili for supper. Because P&D just couldn't get enough of us (lol) they met us at the theater in the evening and we saw Little Miss Sunshine with Steve Carell, Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette and Alan Arkin. What a fun movie! BIG thanks to my buddy Otto for getting us tickets last minute! Came back to the house and had a nice firepit in the back yard (not in the kitchen this time .. GREG) and a nice visit with our good buddies. The only bad part is that we left the back screen open so the whole house smelled like smoke right through to the next day, again ... GREG :)

Monday we got up and went back up to JayCee Park to see how Travis' team was doing. Brandi (USL Edmonton) was down as well as her b.friend also plays on The All Stars. Unfortunately they lost the game we watched and they headed home and G and I stayed and watched another very long game ... it was 41 - 24!! Glad we don't have all open-ended innings, that would be the end of me! On our way out of the diamonds we stopped in the Big League Apparel tent and bought 2 bats! They were regular $300 and we bought them for $175 each, end of season sale. I can hardly wait until we get out and start swinging. Stopped on the way home at Confetti Ice Cream for a yummy cone and headed home for light dinner and fun movies.
Back to work tomorrow :(
